Where they started
Hundreds of image-only project pages, a name that already ranked, and a photographer who would not have generic SEO content anywhere near it. The work had to be done at scale on what was there, and on his real projects.
What was shipped
- On-page at scale: meta titles, descriptions and headers rewritten across the site, and correct alt text on every image across hundreds of image-only project pages.
- A programmatic international layer of country and language pages.
- Case studies as content. The Budweiser FIFA World Cup pages target who-shot-it searches: long-tail and entirely genuine.
What changed
- Organic clicks up 88% and impressions up 136%, excluding one image-pack page (see below).
- Average position in the UK 9.3 → 6.7; in the US 10.3 → 6.0.
- “perfume photographers” went from position 29.6 to 3.1; “still life photographers” from 58 clicks to 180.
What went the other way
- The localised country pages underperformed. /it/ /de/ /ja/ /ko/ /cn/ /fr/ combined went 12 → 91 clicks, and /fr/ earned 1 click while France sent 131. The international gain came from the English site ranking abroad, not from translation. Hreflang and market targeting are the current fix.
- “advertising photographers” traded down, position 6.4 → 16.4, while the specific genre terms gained.
Where the measurement stops
Branded clicks went 1,652 → 2,965. Much of that is Jonathan’s own profile and awards, not our work, and we don’t claim it. No pre-engagement baseline exists: work began in 2025 and Search Console holds sixteen months, so this is a relationship, not a before-and-after. There is no enquiry data. The Budweiser pages are recent work, not part of the original 2025 rebuild.
Sitewide, clicks went 3,514 → 6,708 and impressions 161,171 → 519,327. We don’t publish those as the result. One page, /twiggy/, an image-pack result for the model Twiggy, went 13,874 → 171,118 impressions and accounts for 44% of all impression growth. It has nothing to do with commercial demand, so the +88% and +136% above exclude it.
These are one business’s results over the window stated. Yours depend on your market, your starting point and what we can ship. We don’t promise them.
